Pressure Equipment Directive

What is the Pressure Equipment Directive?

Anyone wishing to market pressure equipment in Europe must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU for the design, manufacturing and conformity assessment of pressure equipment with an allowable pressure (PS) of more than 0.5 bar. A CE marking of the products is mandatory. For this purpose all requirements of the PED should be met and preferably harmonized standards, such as the DIN EN 13445, or other national guidelines, such as the AD 2000 rulebook, should be used for the manufacturing of pressure equipment.

For the testing and monitoring of the manufacturers the involvement of competent independent bodies, so-called authorized Notified Bodies is required.

GSI mbH - Notified Body

Since February 2018 the GSI - Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik mbH is designated by the Zentralstelle der Länder für Sicherheitstechnik (ZLS) as a Notified Body with the identification number 1182 for products and systems in the scope of the Pressure Equipment Device 2014/68/EU. Within the conformity assessment testing activities can be carried out in our ZLS recognized laboratories.
